Conservation In Action
Sustainability
From day one, sustainability has been at the heart of how Diamond M Ranch is built, cared for, and shared.
By using biochar, we strengthen our soil, reduce waste, and support healthier pastures and gardens across the ranch.
Commitment to Sustainability
At Diamond M Ranch Resort, we operate with a deep commitment to sustainability, striving to conserve Alaska’s wild resources.
Behind the scenes, that commitment comes to life in very real, hands-on ways. Each season, we responsibly repurpose 20,000–25,000 pounds of salmon carcasses—including heads, bones, and trimmings—by transforming them into rich, natural compost that nourishes our lawns, pastures, and gardens.
Ensiling our lawn clippings produces up to five times more forage per acre than conventional dry hay horticultural practices, creating highly nutritious feed while significantly reducing waste.
Throughout the entire resort, we exclusively use our own all-natural Diamond M Laundry Soap, crafted from just three primary ingredients, with our homegrown, grass-fed beef tallow as the essential base. It is completely free of harsh chemicals and fragrances and is available for purchase in our store.
Closing the Loop Every Day
We are also actively transitioning all guest unit cleaners to 100% non-toxic, natural cleaning supplies to protect our staff, our guests, and the land we all cherish.
Food waste is never wasted here—it becomes nutritious feed for our chickens and pigs. We proudly encourage both our guests and the local community to drop off their kitchen scraps so they can be put to good use.
To close the loop, we invite every guest to participate by recycling aluminum, plastic, and glass during their stay.
